Troubleshooting
Find your problem below. If none of these match, see the FAQ or contact us.
Signing in
Section titled “Signing in”Sign-in fails or brings you back signed out
Section titled “Sign-in fails or brings you back signed out”- Check the handle. Type it as
name.bsky.social, your own domain such asexample.com, a leading@handle, or a bsky.app profile link. - Approve access on your Bluesky server when it asks. If you cancel there, you come back signed out.
- Try again from Sign in in the header. See Signing In.
Handle not found
Section titled “Handle not found”The handle may be misspelled, or the account may have changed its handle, been deleted, or been deactivated. Look the account up in Handle & DID Lookup to see its DID, its server, and its handle history.
A run paused at a limit
Section titled “A run paused at a limit”This is expected. When a run reaches one of Bluesky’s limits, it waits and carries on by itself once the limit resets. Keep a BskyKit tab open. See Limits & Pacing.
You closed the tab mid-run
Section titled “You closed the tab mid-run”The run waits, paused, in History. Open History in the same browser, signed in with the same account, and resume it.
Another browser shows no History
Section titled “Another browser shows no History”History is kept in the browser that started the runs. Another browser or device starts empty. Open BskyKit in the browser you used before.
History says BskyKit is open in another tab
Section titled “History says BskyKit is open in another tab”Run history lives in a database on this device that the other tab still holds open. Close the other BskyKit tab and reload.
Loading
Section titled “Loading”A large account loads slowly
Section titled “A large account loads slowly”Bluesky sends followers 100 at a time and limits how fast any one connection can ask, so loading a large account takes minutes. Follow lists you load are kept in this browser, so the next visit does not start from nothing.
An account shows as gone or with an invalid handle
Section titled “An account shows as gone or with an invalid handle”Gone means the account was deleted, deactivated, or taken down. An invalid handle
(handle.invalid) means the account’s handle no longer verifies: its DNS record or
/.well-known/atproto-did file is gone or points to another account. These often belong to expired
domains or abandoned accounts. Following Review, Follow Back, List Clean Up, and the converter let you
filter them out.
Exports and downloads
Section titled “Exports and downloads”The Bulk Delete export did not download
Section titled “The Bulk Delete export did not download”When you confirm, Bulk Delete downloads a JSON export of exactly those records before it deletes anything. If the export cannot be downloaded, nothing is deleted. Allow downloads for bskykit.app in your browser and try again.
Account Download came as several ZIP files
Section titled “Account Download came as several ZIP files”In Chrome and Edge on a computer you choose where to save the download, and it is written there at
any size. In other browsers, a download over 1.5 GB comes as several ZIP files, with the records in
the first. Media your server would not give is listed in missing-media.txt.
Screenshot pictures show as empty boxes
Section titled “Screenshot pictures show as empty boxes”Post Screenshot reads pictures from each author’s own server. Any it cannot read show as empty boxes. That author’s server may be unavailable for now; try again later.
