Account Inspector

Open Account Inspector →

Account Inspector shows the public records of any Bluesky account in one place. At the top is the account: avatar, name, handle, Followers, Following, Posts, the date it was Created, and its DID with a copy button. Buttons open the same account on Bluesky, in Top Posts, and in Handle & DID Lookup.

Below, seven lists:

List What it shows
Following The accounts it follows.
Followers The accounts that follow it.
Posts Its posts, replies, and reposts, newest first.
Likes The posts it liked, newest first, with the date of each like.
Blocking The accounts it blocks, with the date of each block.
Blocked by The accounts that block it, with the date of each block.
Lists on The lists it has been added to, with each list’s purpose, creator, and member count.

Every list can be exported to CSV.

On Bluesky, blocks and likes are public records that anyone can read. Account Inspector shows what is already public.

  • You do not need to sign in. Every list is public.
  • You need the account’s handle, DID, or a bsky.app profile link.
  • The address holds the account and the open list (?q= and tab=), so every view is a shareable link.
  1. Open Account Inspector.
  2. Type a handle, DID, or profile link in Handle, DID, or profile link, or pick a suggested account as you type.
  3. Choose Inspect. The account appears with its counts, and Following opens.
  4. Under Show, choose a list. On a narrow screen, Show is a menu.
  5. The list loads its first 100 records. Choose Load more for the next 100, or Load all to keep reading.
  6. While Load all runs, a bar shows the progress. Choose Stop and keep results to end it early.
  7. Choose Export CSV to download what is loaded.
  8. To inspect another account, type it and choose Inspect again. To start over, choose Clear in the box.

Each list loads only when you open it the first time, and keeps what it read when you open another. The line above a list says how much is loaded, such as 100 of 5,432 followers loaded. For Following and Followers the total is the profile’s count; for Blocked by it is the index’s count of block records.

  • Posts: replies show as Reply · <date>, reposts as Reposted <date> · post by @<handle>. Pinned posts and the account reposting its own posts are left out.
  • Likes: a liked post that is gone shows This post is unavailable: deleted, or its author left Bluesky. A post hidden by Bluesky’s moderation, or by an author who asks to be shown only to people signed in, is listed without its content.
  • Blocking: a blocked account with no profile shows Deleted, deactivated, or unknown account.
  • Blocked by: every block is checked against the blocker’s own server. Blocks whose record, account, or server is gone are left out, so the list can be shorter than the count. Each page is sorted newest block first.
  • Lists on: each list shows its purpose (Moderation list, Curated list, or Starter Pack list), its creator, its member count, and on it 3 times when the account was added more than once. Moderation lists come first on each page. Deleted lists are left out.

Accounts hidden by Bluesky’s moderation show Hidden by Bluesky’s moderation in place of their details.

  • Load more reads one page, 100 records.
  • Load all reads up to 10,000 records, then stops. Choose Load all again to read the next 10,000.
  • Stop and keep results ends a Load all and keeps everything read.

Export CSV downloads the loaded part of the open list, named after the list and the handle, such as followers-alice.bsky.social.csv. Load all first if you want the whole list.

List Columns
Following, Followers did, handle, display_name, status
Blocking, Blocked by the same, plus blocked_at
Posts the same columns as the Top Posts CSV export
Likes liked_at, like_uri, url, uri, status, author_did, author_handle, date, text, likes, reposts, replies, quotes, media, then the post’s links, mentions, tags, quote, image alt text, and link card
Lists on list_uri, url, name, purpose, creator_did, creator_handle, members, entries

status is shown, hidden (hidden by Bluesky’s moderation), or unavailable (deleted, deactivated, or unknown); for likes it can also be signed_in_only. Likes of posts that are not shown keep only their links.

Nothing: it only reads. Your browser reads from:

  • Bluesky’s public API (AppView), for the profile, Following, Followers, and Posts, and to fill in the accounts and posts named in Blocking, Likes, and Blocked by.
  • The inspected account’s own server (PDS), for Blocking and Likes. The tool finds the server from the account’s DID document at plc.directory, or /.well-known/did.json for a did:web account.
  • Constellation, a public index of Bluesky records run by microcosm, for Blocked by and Lists on. A block or a list entry is stored on the other account’s server, so Bluesky has no way to ask for them directly; Constellation indexes them across the network. Your browser sends it the inspected account’s DID, only when you open one of those two lists. Each block it reports is then checked on the blocker’s own server.

The lists stay only in the open tab. If you move to another BskyKit page and come back, the account and what was loaded are still there. See Data on Your Device.

Nothing to undo: it only reads.

  • Lists load 100 records at a time. Load all reads up to 10,000 (100 requests) per run.
  • Blocked by checks each block on the blocker’s server, six at a time, so it loads more slowly than the other lists. On a very large account, the first page can take several seconds.
  • Lists on first asks Constellation for the lists grouped, and waits up to 8 seconds. For an account on thousands of lists that times out, and the tool reads the list entries one by one instead.
  • Accounts that Bluesky hides (labeled !hide or !takedown) and accounts that ask to be shown only to people signed in to Bluesky are not read.
  • When Bluesky or a server asks to slow down, or has a passing error, the tool waits and tries again, up to five times, starting at 2 seconds and doubling up to 60.

“Bluesky hides this account, so BskyKit does not read it.”

Section titled ““Bluesky hides this account, so BskyKit does not read it.””

Bluesky’s moderation has hidden or taken down the account. Account Inspector does not read it.

“This account asks to be shown only to people signed in to Bluesky, so BskyKit does not read it.”

Section titled ““This account asks to be shown only to people signed in to Bluesky, so BskyKit does not read it.””

The account has chosen to be hidden from people who are signed out. BskyKit respects that choice, even if you are signed in to BskyKit.

“No Bluesky account was found for …”

Section titled ““No Bluesky account was found for …””

The handle is misspelled, or the account changed its handle or was deleted. Look it up in Handle & DID Lookup to see its DID and handle history, then inspect it by DID.

“Loading stopped” with “The account’s server, …, could not be reached.”

Section titled ““Loading stopped” with “The account’s server, …, could not be reached.””

Blocking and Likes are read from the account’s own server, which may be down. What was loaded is kept. Choose Try again from there later to carry on from where it stopped. The same applies to The backlink index, Constellation, could not be reached. on Blocked by and Lists on.

“The account’s DID document names no server, so its repository cannot be read.”

Section titled ““The account’s DID document names no server, so its repository cannot be read.””

The account’s DID document lists no server, so there is nowhere to read its blocks and likes from. The other lists still load.

“Bluesky asked us to slow down. Trying again in … seconds.”

Section titled ““Bluesky asked us to slow down. Trying again in … seconds.””

This is expected on long reads. The tool waits and carries on by itself. See Limits & Pacing.
