Block Followers
What it does
Section titled “What it does”Block Followers loads the followers of any Bluesky account and blocks them for you, in one of two ways:
- On a moderation list (the default): every chosen follower goes on a moderation list, a new one or one of yours, and you are subscribed to that list as a block list when the run finishes. All the blocks then live in one place that you can review, share, or unsubscribe from.
- Block each account: one block per follower, as if you blocked each one yourself.
Nobody is left out for being someone you follow. Every follower is selected, including people you follow and mutuals; badges show who they are so you can untick them. Your own account and the account itself are never included.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Sign in with your Bluesky account. See Signing In.
- Have the account’s handle, DID, or bsky.app profile link ready.
- To use an existing list, it must be one of your own moderation lists. Curation lists are not offered.
Step by step
Section titled “Step by step”- Open Block Followers and sign in if asked.
- Type the account in Handle, DID, or profile link, or pick a suggestion as you type.
- Choose Load followers. Followers start loading straight away, newest first, up to 10,000. The line above the list counts them, such as 2,400 of 8,000 followers loaded.
- Under Output in the side column, choose:
- New moderation list: check the Name (filled in as Followers of @handle) and add a Description if you like;
- Add to my moderation list: choose the list in Your moderation list;
- Block each account.
- Look through the followers. Untick anyone you want to leave out, or use Select.
- Choose Add selected to the list, or Block selected for Block each account. The line under the button counts the selection.
- Confirm. For a list, the confirmation reads, for example, Add 320 accounts to “Followers of @alice.bsky.social”? with You’re subscribed to it as a block list when the run finishes. For blocks, it reads Block 320 accounts?.
- The run starts, or waits behind runs already in the queue. Its progress shows above the button.

|---|---|

| Blocked | You already block this account. |
| On this list | The account is already on the moderation list you chose. |
Accounts the chosen output already covers are locked and leave the selection: Blocked accounts for Block each account, and On this list accounts for Add to my moderation list.
Select
Section titled “Select”Select offers Select all shown, Select none, and Invert shown.
Size choice for large runs
Section titled “Size choice for large runs”Above 1,000 accounts, or past what BskyKit suggests for a day, the confirmation asks how much to do now: the newest part of the selection now, such as Add the newest 1,000 now or Block the newest 1,000 now, or Start the whole run. The rest stay selected for another day.
What gets changed
Section titled “What gets changed”- New moderation list creates a list record (
app.bsky.graph.list, purpose moderation list), one list entry (app.bsky.graph.listitem) per follower, and, once every entry is written, one list block record (app.bsky.graph.listblock) that subscribes you to it as a block list. - Add to my moderation list creates the list entries, then uses your existing subscription to the list or creates one.
- Block each account creates one block record (
app.bsky.graph.block) per follower. - All of these are written to your own Bluesky server, and on Bluesky they are public: anyone can see the list, its members, and whom you block.
- Followers are read through your own server, which adds whether you follow or block each one. The account is found, and an existing list’s members are read, through Bluesky’s public API (AppView).
- The account and the followers loaded stay while you browse in the same tab. Signing out or switching account clears them.
Undo the run from History. It deletes, in this order, the block list subscription the run created, then the list entries or blocks it wrote, then the list itself if the run created it. A subscription you already had stays.
A run that is paused or stopped before every entry is written does not subscribe you yet. Resume it from History and it subscribes when it finishes. See History & Undo.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”- Followers load 100 at a time; Load all reads up to 10,000 per run.
- List entries, blocks, and the subscription are creates, three write points each, so your server allows about 1,666 an hour and 11,666 a day.
- Blocks and list runs that subscribe you count toward the 1,000 a day BskyKit suggests, together with follows, unfollows, unblocks, and mutes. The meter under the button shows Follows, blocks, and mutes in the last 24 hours.
- When a run reaches a limit, it waits and carries on by itself while a BskyKit tab is open.
See Limits & Pacing.
